macOS and Windows
Version 1.0 is built and tested only on Linux x86-64. Support for macOS (kqueue) and Windows (IOCP) is foreseen by the Standard (§8.1) but is not part of this release; it will be verified and built in later releases on those platforms. Linux on ARM (arm64) is not shipped yet either: the sources do not depend on the architecture, but the release archive and the tests exist for x86-64 only.
What to do now:
- Windows: install WSL2 with Ubuntu 24.04 and follow installation from the archive; VS Code connects to WSL with the "WSL" extension, and the OxL extension is installed into the remote environment (see VS Code).
- macOS: run Ubuntu in a container or a virtual machine (Docker Desktop, Lima, OrbStack) and mount the project directory; the editor works on the host through "Dev Containers" or SSH.
- A container for CI: any Ubuntu 24.04 image with the dependencies.
Watch the releases page on GitHub: platforms are added as separate archives oxl-<version>-<os>-<architecture>.
