17.5 Formatting and parsing

  • t.fmt("dd.MM.yyyy HH:mm"), interpolation {t:dd.MM.yyyy}. Patterns: yyyy MM dd HH mm ss SSS XXX VV EEE.
  • Time.parse(s, .Iso8601), Date.parse(s, "dd.MM.yyyy") → T | ParseError.
  • The source and version of the IANA time zone database are implementation-defined (see the note below). The names UTC, Z, GMT and fixed offsets are always available.

Implementation-defined. Time zone database (D-8051; DIV-008; D-3104). The 1.0 decision: the system must contain tzdata. This implementation reads the database from the directory $OXL_TZDIR, otherwise /usr/share/zoneinfo; only UTC, Z, GMT and fixed offsets are built into the binary. Without tzdata the other zones are unavailable, therefore an image or container with the program MUST include the tzdata package. The version of the database is the version of the system tzdata, not of the compiler.

  • In tests and simulation the clocks are virtual: clock.advance(d), clock.set(t) (§18).
