1.3 Identifiers

  • Identifier: XID_Start | "_", then XID_Continue* (Unicode UAX #31). Comparison is done after NFC normalisation.
  • A lone _ is a placeholder, not an identifier.
  • A keyword can be used as a name through the prefix r#: r#type.

A loop label is 'name (an apostrophe, then an identifier, without a closing apostrophe): 'outer: for …, break 'outer. A character literal differs by the closing apostrophe.
