0.3 Editions and versions
- The edition (
edition = "2027"inoxl.toml) fixes the syntax and semantics. The compiler MUST support all released editions; packages of different editions MUST link together. - The standard library is versioned together with the compiler.
- The version of the OxL wire protocol (§9) is independent of the edition and MUST be backward compatible within a major version.
Implementation-defined. Platforms (D-8051; DIV-035; D-1604). The Standard does not require a particular OS or architecture. This implementation (1.0) is built and tested on Linux x86-64 (compiler, target programs, cluster) and on macOS arm64 (macOS 14 and later; TZ 3.1: the compiler and target programs for development; D-8500..D-8599, D-8740). The macOS I/O backend is kqueue (sockets, timers, process events), see
impl-io-backend; the differences of the platform are listed underimpl-io-backend,impl-abstract-unix,impl-idle-task,impl-fsync,impl-macos-build,impl-debugger. IOCP (Windows) of §8.1 is not implemented, builds for Windows are not shipped and have not been tested. Cross-compilation ([build] targets, III.2) is not implemented: a program is built for the platformoxlruns on. Details — App. D.
